Save-A-Life Saturday

Join the American Red Cross as we host the Gabrielle Giffords Honorary Save-a-Life Saturday on March 19, 2011.

Just over a month ago, the events that unfolded in Arizona reminded the nation of the importance of being prepared in the event of an emergency. Many of the bystanders knew CPR and first aid and were able to save the lives of several victims, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who received help from her intern Daniel Hernandez.

On March 19th, in more than 50 locations across the nation, the Red Cross will provide fast and easy classes to teach the basics of hands-only CPR, the treatment of shock and how to treat wounds. The classes will be shortened versions of Red Cross training courses, lasting approximately 30-45 minutes and offered multiple times during the day.

Best of all, the courses are being offered free of charge through the generosity of our sponsors, Safeway and Walgreens.

More than 25% of Americans say they’ve been involved in a situation where someone needed CPR. Now is the chance to get trained in the skill that will keep your community safe and help save a life.
