Greater St. Croix Valley Partnership Hosts Governor Walker and Cabinet Secretaries

Governor Scott Walker and several cabinet secretaries travelled to the Osceola Airport (Osceola, Wisconsin) on Monday, October 14, 2013 as part of his Cabinet on Road series. Jim Kirvida of Custom Fire Apparatus, hosted the event at his business hangar.

Joining Governor Walker was Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, Reed Hall, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), Secretary Rick Chandler from the Department of Revenue, Secretary Reggie Newson, Department of the Department of Workforce Development, and DRN Secretary Cathy Stepp. S. Mark Tyler, founder and president of OEM Fabricators (Woodville, WI), and a member of the Wisconsin Technical College System Board, also present information on his perspectives as a growing manufacturer seeking skilled workers.

The event was planned by the Greater St. Croix Valley Partnership, a collaboration of county EDCs from Polk, St. Croix, Pierce, and Dunn counties. About 175 business people attended the event.

 The Governor and cabinet secretaries presented information on the changes that have been put in place with Wisconsin’s tax structure, regulatory reforms, and workforce development initiatives to make Wisconsin a great place to do business. Governor Walker’s theme since taking office in January 2011 is “Wisconsin is Open for Business”.

Following the presentations, Governor Walker fielded questions from the audience before departing to another appointment across the state.
