Hudson Area Public Library Plans For Reopening July 6

The Hudson Area Public Library will reopen for patron visits beginning Monday, July 6. The re-opening plan calls for limited hours and caps on number of visitors.

“We’re thrilled to get people back in the building, but the top priority is the safety of patrons and staff. We’re taking a cautious approach. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we slowly build toward normal service,” said Interim Co-Director Shelley Tougas.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The library will allow a maximum of 15 patrons at one time. Contactless curbside service will continue for patrons who don’t want to enter the building.

Some guidelines include the following:

• To use the computers, patrons will need to schedule an appointment. Staff can provide only limited technical assistance.
• Restrooms will be closed to the public. The library does not have the resources to establish a continual cleaning schedule for restrooms.
• The conference room and meeting rooms are unavailable.
• There will be no storytime or other programs in the building until further notice.
• All toys, games, crafts and computers in the children’s area are stored.
• Social distancing guidelines should be followed, and visitors are strongly encouraged to wear masks.
• Virtual programming continues for patrons of all ages, including the online summer reading program called Beanstack. Storytimes and other programs can be found on the library’s YouTube channel. Search for “Hudson Area Public Library.”
