In a hard-fought game that had the Raiders leading by only one point at the beginning of the third quarter, Hudson pulled ahead to win 12 to 7. Hudson will play in the state championship at 8:00 pm on Saturday at Washburn High School in Minneapolis against the winner between Duluth and St. Louis Park.
Hudson went up 2 to 0 with goals from Taren Motte and McKay Potter. Becker scored one goal for a score of 2 to 1 after one quarter.
In a high-scoring second quarter, Adam Lipps scored off of an assist from Motte, and Motte scored 2 more of his own, to put Hudson ahead 5 to 1. Becker scored one before Motte scored again with an assist from Will Reece, and the Raiders led 6 to 2. Then Becker scored 2 quick goals at the end of the quarter to make the score 6 to 4.

Becker opened the third quarter with a goal, and with a score of 6 to 5 and the momentum apparently with Becker, it seemed to be anyone’s game. Then Hudson’s offense seemed to come to life with sharp passes, quick shots, and some man-up situations on Becker penalties. Hudson went on a run of 5 unanswered goals: 3 by Motte, 1 by Potter, and 1 by Reece. After 4 quarters, Hudson led 11 to 5.
Becker kept fighting, and scored 2 in the 4th quarter to make the score 11 to 7. Hudson’s Zach Beckman scored the last goal for a final score of 12 to 7, sending the Raiders to the state championship game on Saturday, June 8 at 8:00 pm at Washburn High School in Minneapolis. Duluth plays St. Louis Park on Friday, and the winner of that game will face Hudson.
