Hudson Patch Whiz Kid: Zach Helmen, 18

Accomplishment: This year, Zach was elected to be both president of Hudson High School's Student Council and the senior class. As president, Zach was the featured student speaker at last week's Underclass Academic Awards ceremony.

Key to Awesomeness: If Zach's nominator had to describe him in just one word, it would be "driven." Zach is a true Renaissance man, achieving a 4.08 GPA while volunteering and being involved in music, art and sports. In addition to Student Council, Zach is a member of Peer Helpers, the National Honor Society, the Principal’s Leadership Team and the Social Justice League. Zach believes in the power of challenging himself—he takes numerous Advanced Placement courses at Hudson High School and has been described as a role model for all of his peers.
