Accomplishment:  Zach Offner, who just completed eighth grade, was part of a team who attended and won a global Destination Imagination competition earlier this year in Knoxville, Tenn. There were between 14-20 countries represented, including Poland, Korea, Mexico, Guatemala, Japan and China at the challenge. Destination Imagination is an activity where teams of students are given a problem or theme and have a few months to prepare and work out a solution they can act out. The winning Hudson team had to research and present an energy cycle; they chose the nitrogen cycle and acted as a dysfunctional family of elements.

Key to awesomeness: Offner said what made their team a successful one was their authentic friendships and eagerness to excel and participate in Destination Imagination. “I don’t care about how well we did, I just like to be in it,” he said. “We do well because we all put everything else aside to focus on DI and we’re just friends.”
