Living Well with Lupus as a Youth Seminar
At JCC in St. Paul, MN, join Drs. Riskalla and Johnson for a free seminar to discuss the unique aspects of being a youth living with lupus.
Did you know approximately 20% of people living with lupus are diagnosed in their childhood? Being a youth can be challenging, let alone a youth living with lupus. In this seminar, Mona Riskalla, M.D., and Kiana Johnson, Ph.D., will discuss the unique aspects of being a youth living with lupus, including the transition from pediatric to adult health care, as well as general strategies to better manage the disease through nutrition, exercise, and supplements.

About the Presenters
Dr. Riskalla practices pediatric rheumatology--an area in which she has nearly 15 years of experience--in Saint Paul and Minneapolis at Children’s Hospitals & Clinics of Minnesota. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University in 1995. Afterward she went on to complete her pediatrics residency, serve as chief resident, and receive her fellowship training in rheumatology at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Johnson is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health at the University of Minnesota, where she is engaged in multidisciplinary research focused on the transition to adulthood and adult health care among youth with chronic conditions. She is the chair and founder of The Childhood-onset Lupus Education and Research Foundation.
