Happy Tuesday! Lately I've been having some run-in's with fashion rule breakers. I encourage everyone to add their own personal style to each and every outfit, but let me give you some guidance.
One of my biggest fashion rules is having one aspect of your outfit make a statement. We've all seen those women (and men) who are constantly over-accessorizing or mixing far too many patterns. Instead of putting all of your statement pieces into one outfit, try to add one to a more neutral apparel palette. You WILL get compliments, trust me!
I'm typically a girl who likes a great piece of jewelry or a scarf to add a little statement, but I've been finding many other ways to become statement-making. Subtle statements are always dainty and beautiful, but I'll let you in on a few of my secrets!
1) Go bold with your jewels: I'm in love with big baubles that attract the right kind of attention.
2) Wear pants with a pattern: I know it's hard to stray from our comfort zone, but patterned pants are nothing to be scared of. I own several pairs of ankle trousers with a bright geometric pattern on them. These pants are a major trend right now and can be found in nearly every store. Pair your trouser with a neutral shoe ( I recommend a ballet flat or a boot).
3) Take a twist on the classic: The perfect example of a classic with a little bit of sass is the sequined blazer. Tone down the sparkle by selecting a black blazer. I promise your outfit will be to die for!
4) Be confident!: The best way to make a statement with your outfit is to wear it with pride. The way you feel changes the way you are perceived in an outfit.
5) P.O.C.: If you're not familiar with this term I'll let you in on it: Pop of Color. A pop of color is probably one of the best ways to make a statement with your outfit. If you're wearing a white top with jeans, add a bright red pump for interest. This can be done in infinite ways.
Follow these rules to take your outfit the extra mile. I promise you won't regret it!
Stay Fabulous,
Maren
