The Incident

On Feb. 18, just after 11:30 p.m., St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home on the 700 block of North Meadow Drive in the Town of Hudson on a report of a domestic violence dispute.

According to police, a 28-year-old sibling stabbed a family member and beat a second family member with a stick. The family, except for the mother, sought shelter in a garage on the property during the incident.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the mother was still inside the residence with the armed sibling. Deputies made entry, and located the mother who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was removed and taken to an ambulance that was staged outside the home.

Shortly after, the 49-year-old woman identified as Charlene Wold was pronounced deceased.

After an extensive search of the area, deputies were unable to locate the suspect, but determined that the he was driving a white Pontiac Grand Am and fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

It was then determined that the suspect was 28-year-old Logan Reese of Glenwood City, Wisconsin.

As deputies were driving to Reese's address in Glenwood city just before 1 a.m. Sunday, they learned that Reese's neighbor called 911 to report a fire inside his apartment.

By 1:15 a.m., a Woodville police officer spotted Reese's Pontiac Grand Am driving on U.S. Highway 12. As the Woodville officer tailed Reese, Reese shot out of his vehicle at the officer.

The Woodville officer activated his emergency lights and engaged in a pursuit of Reese.

Multiple agencies responded to the chase including the St. Croix Sheriff, Amery Police, St. Croix Falls police and Chisago County Minnesota Sheriff's deputies.

THe pursuit covered more than 50 miles through St. Croix County, Polk County and Chisago County.

As officers pursued Reese, he reportedly fired several shots at police before crashing into a median barrier on U.S. Hwy. 8 in Chisago County, where he fired his last rounds at pursuing officers.

By 2:05 a.m. Reese was found deceased inside his vehicle after an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's office is leading the investigation that spanned multiple counties.
