Minnesota Man Arrested Driving Drunk, Wrong-Way on I-94 and Fleeing Police

A Minnesota man has been arrested after he fled police at high speeds, and later on foot after driving drunk and the wrong way on I-94.

ST. CROIX COUNTY, WI β€” Authorities arrested a Minnesota man after he reportedly fled police and drove the wrong way down I-94 while intoxicated.

Cody Anthony Johnson, 24, from Isle, Minnesota has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 2nd offense.

On Sunday, April 16, 2017, just before 1 a.m. State, Troopers attempted to stop a red 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier for driving the wrong way on a divided highway on I-94 westbound. Troopers witnessed the suspect vehicle operating west bound in the eastbound lanes of I-94.

According to police, Johnson drove his vehiclethrough the median and continued west in the westbound lanes. Troopers attempted to Johnson, who failed to stop.

The pursued vehicle continued west bound into St. Croix Co where St. Croix County deputies, Woodville and Baldwin police departments attempted to stop the vehicle with tire deflation devices.

The tire deflation devices were ineffective and Johnson continued west on I-94. St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies conducted a pursuit intervention technique in which they disabled Johnson's vehicle while at high speeds and under dangerous conditions.

After the vehicle was disabled by police, Johnson was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Johnson was arrested and charged with OWI-2nd Offense. An evidentiary blood test was obtained. Johnson was also charged with Knowingly fleeing an officer and no valid driver’s license. Johnson was booked into the Dunn County Jail pending an initial appearance.
