One Dead, One Injured in Overnight Motorcycle Crash in St. Croix County

ST CROIX COUNTY - Police say a 38-year-old woman has died and a 34-year-old man was injured after a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning.

The St. Croix Sheriff's Department preliminary intestigation indicated that a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Joshua D. Sykora, 34, of Hastings, was heading southbound on County Highway F, when it left the roadway, entered the ditch and overturned.

When police arrived on the scene just after 4 a.m. Saturday on County Highway F near Riverview Drive in the Town of Troy, they found Brooke A. Baker, from Prescott laying in the ditch just off the road.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix Medical Examiner. Sykora, police say, was found laying in the median of the road and was transported to Hudson Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Regions Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Sheriff's officials, neither Sykora nor Baker were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to Sheriff's officials. This is the fourth traffic fatality of 2016 for St. Croix County.

The crash remains under investigation. Hudson Fire, EMS and Hudson police assisted at the scene.
