The Other Side
The St. Croix County Republican Party already has an office known as the Hudson Victory Center at 213 Second St. that it operates in conjunction with the Republican Party of Wisconsin and has been working for all Republicans on the ticket this fall. It likely will ramp up efforts on behalf of presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney after he is formally named the party's pick at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa later this month.
In the Nov. 6 elections, Kreitlow will face U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, Odeen will face State Rep. Dean Knudson, and Swanson will face State Rep. John Murtha. Democratic candidate Dan Olson will be challenging State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf as well.
A key four-way Republican race will be decided next week in an Aug. 14 U.S. Senate primary. Republicans will choose among businessman Eric Hovde, fomer U.S. Rep. Mark Neumann, Tommy Thompson and Jeff Fitzgerald. The winner will face Democratic candidate U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin in a race for retiring Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl's seat in Washington.
