Raiders Varsity Lacrosse Team Defeats Fargo to Advance to Semifinals

After a shaky start, the Raiders shut down Fargo’s offense and trounced them 15 to 4 to move into the state semifinal game against Becker on Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30 pm at Hopkins High School.
Fargo scored first against Hudson, the only opponent to do so all season.  Taren Motte and McKay Potter each scored for the Raiders.  Then Fargo scored 2 goals to lead 3 to 2.  The Raiders looked stunned, but rose to the challenge.  After making some defensive adjustments, the Raiders shut down the Fargo offense and never looked back.  It was all Motte and Potter for most of the half, with Motte scoring 5 more goals and Potter scoring one more.  Brandon Schwartz added the last goal of the second quarter, and Hudson led Fargo 8 to 3 at the half.
Motte scored 2 more in the 3rd quarter and Potter scored one to lead Fargo 11 to 3 after 3.
Motte scored his 8th goal to start the 4th, and then Adam Lipps scored, adding to several assists, and Will Reece scored one.  Fargo scored one more goal before Rusty Selliris added the final goal for a score of 15 to 4.
Hudson will play Becker on Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30 pm at Hopkins High School in a state semifinal game.  The Raiders will play in the state championships on Saturday June 8 at Washburn High School in either the first place or third place game.
