Speeding and High, Chicago Mother of 3 Arrested As She Drove With Her Children on I-94

An apparent traffic stop for speeding revealed that the mother had been smoking marijuana with her three children in the car.

DUNN COUNTY, WI — Authorities arrested a Chicago mother of three in Dunn County early Wednesday after an apparent traffic stop for speeding revealed that the mother had been smoking marijuana while driving her three children on I-94.

According to authorities, Etoya Pleas, 35, Chicago has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with three children in the vehicle under the age of 16.

Just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, a Wisconsin State Trooper conducted a traffic stop for speeding on I-94 at MM 29 west bound in Dunn County. Upon approach, the Trooper detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the inside of the vehicle.

The driver, Etoya Pleas age 35 from Chicago was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs with minor children in the vehicle. Passengers in the vehicle included an adult female and Ms. Pleas' three children, age 7, 12, 14.

Pleas was taken to Mayo Health in Menomonie for a blood draw and was detained at the Dunn County Jail as of Wednesday morning.

The young passengers were transported to a local motel.
