Teriyaki Cuisine Takes Over Pizzeria

A new Asian restaurant has opened in Hudson to serve teriyaki food.

Teriyaki Cuisine is now open and ready to get customers in and out and back to work over the lunch hour, said manager Tao Lor.

Lor has been managing the site, which used to be Grubs Pizzeria, for a few years and recently switched the restaurant to a west Asian menu.

"I looked around town and there are some Asian restaurants but not one in Hudson that has the same type of food we carry," she said. "We’re the only one with the teriyaki style."

The quality of the food is important, she said, but a significant portion of the focus there is to make the customer’s visit quick.

"Many people have a half-hour or hour lunch break so we need to make it fast so they can go back to work," she said.

The pizzeria wasn’t working as a business plan, she said, so she made the executive decision to change.

"As a business person I decided to try something new. If something isn’t working you have try something else," she said.

Teriyaki Cuisine has a small dining room. It’s mostly a light wood finish on the booths and tables and decorated with traditional Asian décor.

"I’m excited about this place because I put a lot into the decorations and I think it looks really nice," she said.

Looking good and tasting good go hand in hand, the manager said.

The menu includes teriyaki beef, shrimp, chicken and bourbon chicken.

Though Teriyaki is what Lor said is her specialty her favorite dish on the menu is pho soup – a traditional Vietnamese dish of rice noodles, beef broth and herbal seasoning.

"It’s a refreshing taste that is popular," Lor said.

Everything that is made is done with a home style recipe in mind.

"We make all the food here ourselves," she said. "It’s important to be authentic."
