United Gear & Assembly Hands Out Job Offers On the Spot at Job Fair

UPDATE (2:13 p.m., May 25, 2012): Jennifer Lee, human resources rep for United Gear & Assembly said, "We had 75 people stop by, and more at the office today. We have 12 to 15 that will be put through the screening process of physical, drug and background checks then possible hired on."

ORIGINAL POST (2:16 p.m., May 24, 2012): Dozens of people already have taken advantage of United Gear & Assembly's job fair today at the Hudson Golf Club, and some have even left with job offers in hand.

"People are excited to hear that there are some employment opportunities in town," said United Gear & Assembly President Kevin Frane.

As applicants enter the fair, they are given applicants and other materials to fill out and complete a skills test to see which positions they are best suited for. Frane then does a quick screening of the applicant and routes them to a table where they can be interviewed by the appropriate hiring manager. 

"Some people are leaving with offers in hand contingent on a drug test and background check," Frane said. "We set them up for those drug tests and as soon as we get back the results, we'll be arranging a start date."

Frane said the company is in rapid expansion mode because all its customers are doing well and it has taken on more customers.

"Right now we're looking for 25-30 production workers and about another 10-15 peripheral support personnel," Frane said. 

This round of hiring comes just months after for various positions in the manufacturing plant.
