Update: Layoffs Escalating, Healthcare Bleeding Out

At the beginning of October I shared that the current layoffs run-rate as listed by DailyJobCuts.com pointed to a massive uptick.  To wit:

"While September was a barn burner with 27,000 eliminated jobs on top of a sedate 22,000 in August, the start of the 4th quarter has begun with 9,600 jobs in the first two days.  If we pretend this is "transitory" and that things will return closer to normal shortly, say the job losses run-rate is cut in half for the rest of October, it would still come out to 72,000 job losses captured."

While things have backed off a bit it is worthy to note that the current layoff number sits just below 32,000 with a full 8 days to go and a run-rate of almost 45,000 jobs lost by month end.  This is about a 34% increase over September and as the Hudson Hospital continues the shiny new addition we thought you might like to see the following 2 data sets:

If any part of you still believes these cuts are due to anything but government policies, including but not limited to sequester cuts, the ill-names Affordable Care Act, or the disaster of a budget failure as the economy careens into the ditch, the star indicates a heavily government funded industry.
