VIDEO: Grinding and Mixing Venison at RJ's Meats

During venison season, RJ's Meats and Groceries turns local hunters' deer into snack sticks in 200 pound batches.

In the 1970s, when Rick Reams was 16 years old, he'd run by himself while the owners went hunting for deer.

Today Reams owns RJ's and, though he never acquired a taste for hunting, about 10 percent of his business comes from venison.

Venison season hits its peak around the holidays, and local hunters bring in freshly killed venison and Reams mixes it with pork and spices.
