Xcel Looking to Raise Your Electricity Rates by 6.1 Percent

Xcel Energy is looking to raise electricity and natural gas rates on Hudson customers, according to a Star Tribune article by David Shaffer.

Xcel wants to raise electricity rates by 6.1 percent and natural gas rates by 3.8 percent. The rate hikes, if approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, will take place in January. Xcel's electricity customers in Minnesota are facing an 8 percent increase, according to Shaffer's article.

From the Star Tribune article:

The company said the $40 million boost in Wisconsin electric rates is needed to cover investments in generation, including upgrades to its Minnesota nuclear power plants, transmission lines and distribution facilities and to cover increased operating costs.
