1. Jefferson school board formally opposes BECI transmission line (wdtimes.com) — Jefferson's school board has unanimously passed a resolution opposing the proposed BECI high-voltage transmission line near district boundaries, citing student health, safety, and limited public input time. The board also sent a formal objection letter to project contractor Midcontinent Grid Solutions and the Wisconsin Public Service Commission, joining other area districts and governments raising concerns ahead of state review in 2027.
2. Photo Contest: Spooky Season (wisc.edu) — Jefferson County 4-H members can enter an October "Spooky Season" photo contest by emailing one themed photo, title, and their name to the listed UW-Extension address by the 15th. Entries will be posted on Jefferson County 4-H social media, with prizes for all participants and a larger prize for the monthly winner chosen by likes.
3. Volleyball: Eagles sweep Comets on Parents Night to reach 20-win mark (gazettextra.com) — Jefferson High School's volleyball team pushed its record to 20 wins with a straight-set sweep of Delavan-Darien on Parents Night, despite several players battling illness. Senior leaders and underclassmen all contributed in the Rock Valley victory, and the Eagles now turn their focus to hosting Monroe on Thursday during homecoming week.
4. ORBIS Hosts 2026 Community Giving Reception (perishablenews.com) — Residents may be interested to know the Humane Society of Jefferson County was among more than 40 nonprofits honored at ORBIS Corporation's 2026 Community Giving Reception in nearby Oconomowoc. The event highlighted charitable support for animal welfare, food pantries, police departments, health causes, and other services that benefit communities across Jefferson County and southeast Wisconsin.
