1. Kenosha County Household Hazardous Waste Program 2026 Collection Event is May 30 (kenoshacountywi.gov) — Kenosha County residents can drop off household hazardous waste, e-waste, and refrigerant items for free this Saturday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol. This is the only countywide collection date this year, and a diaper drive for foster families will run alongside the event for those wishing to donate.    

2. Mayor's Youth Commission recognizes Kenosha area students (journaltimes.com) — Kenosha’s Mayor’s Youth Commission recently honored 17 local students at a Common Council meeting for their leadership, academics, and community service, spotlighting young residents making a difference. The piece also highlights several ongoing city projects, events, and services, from road work and park improvements to upcoming parades and tourism activities that Kenosha residents can take part in.    

3. New KUSD Board Referendum Effort Moves Forward (wlip.com) — Kenosha families could soon be asked to vote on a 2026 school funding referendum as KUSD faces a projected multimillion-dollar budget shortfall. District leaders are weighing November 2026 versus April 2027 for a possible tax-increase question, and will start shaping a community survey and outreach plan at a special June 1 School Board meeting.    

4. Illinois Man Convicted in 2022 Double Homicide; Another Homicide Conviction Secured by the Kenosha County District Attorney's Office (kenoshacountyeye.com) — A Kenosha County jury has convicted an Illinois man on all counts in a 2022 shooting outside Las Margaritas Tavern in Kenosha that killed two people and injured two others. Prosecutors from the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office used video and witness testimony to secure the fast verdict, and the defendant now faces a mandatory life sentence plus separate charges from an alleged incident in the county jail.    

5. Kenosha Judge Rejects Plea Bargain; Charges Upcoming in a Motorcycle Crash; Alleged Courthouse Groper Faces a New Charge (wgtd.org) — Kenosha readers should know a local judge rejected a plea deal and imposed prison and jail time on a Salem Lakes man in a high-profile case. Separately, a 66-year-old Kenosha resident is expected to face homicide and injury charges after a Memorial Day crash in Kenosha that killed one motorcyclist and critically injured another, while Racine authorities filed a new charge in an alleged courthouse groping case.
