A Dane County Sheriff’s deputy quick actions saved a resident in the City-County Building jail from choking.

At around noon today, a 28-year-old male was eating his lunch, when another resident noticed he was choking and could not breathe. A deputy quickly responded and used the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge the food.

After being checked by jail nursing staff, the resident was able to return to his housing unit.
