  1. The Dane County Board of Supervisors rejected an effort to repeal the county's COVID-19 mask mandate on Friday. After more than five hours of public testimony, the board voted 29-4 against the resolution that had been brought directly to the county board. Dane County's current mask order goes through Feb. 1, amid a local surge of cases tied to the omicron variant. It is the only county in Wisconsin that still has such a mandate. (HNGnews.com)
  2. Madison police are investigating after a van was reported stolen from a home in the 400 block of Walbridge Avenue. Police said the alleged theft happened early Wednesday just after 3:30 a.m. The homeowner reportedly left his van unlocked to warm it up for about 20 minutes and returned to find the van was gone.
