Here are the top stories today in Madison:

  1. A former East High School teacher has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after a four hour hearing on Friday. The former teacher, David Kruchten of Cottage Grove, was sentenced for hiding cameras in student bathrooms during field trips—a discovery made in December 2019. (Wisconsin State Journal)
  2. The Legislative Audit Bureau, a nonpartisan body, made 30 reccomendations for future elections to the Wisconsin Election Committee. The audit focused improvements to the election administration such as "WEC's compliance with election laws, clerks' compliance with election laws, the use of electronic voting equipment and 2020 election-related complaints filed with WEC and clerks, among other things." (The Cap Times)
  3. Three people are injured with after a 2 car crash on Highway 51 yesterday morning. A 17 year old girl hit a car after not stopping at the intersection on Mahoney Road. She has been taken to UW Hospital with serious injuries. The two people who were hit are in a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. (Channel3000)
  4. A new spot to try for lunch?! The Nile, located at 6119 Odana Road, is under new ownership and now has a bakery and whole new menu that is primarily Palestinian/Jordanian cuisine. (Isthmus)
