Here are the top three stories today in Madison:
- After an intruder broke into a woman's home on the Near East Side, the woman's granddaughter chased the perpetrator from the property. According to Madison police, the woman was so frightened by the incident that she fled the scene and called her granddaughter, who chased the man out of the residence before officers arrived. The man, who was not publicly identified, was taken to jail on tentative charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct. (Madison.com)
- As part of YWCA Madison's Race and Gender Equity programming, Amplify Madison has awarded funding to 24 local women whose work uplifts the community. According to a press release, this year's awardees are "courageously creating empowering and healing-centered initiatives to amplify how we take care of ourselves, of each other, and across communities in Madison." These women will be honored on Mar. 4 during a virtual event, with an opportunity for event attendees to learn about the awardees' initiatives and get involved. (Isthmus)
- As part of its newly-launched independent evaluation of equity and access at Dane County Parks and the Henry Vilas Zoo, the county is asking for community feedback.
