🌱Madison Searching For Next Fire Chief + Vaccine Clinics

Here are the top stories today in Madison:

  1. A nationwide search has begun to find Madison's next fire chief. The commission will continue accepting applications through the end of the day on Wednesday, Dec. 15. In October, current Fire Chief Steven A. Davis announced he would retire next year on April 1 after 32 years with the department. (WMTV - NBC15)
  2. SSM Heath teams are planning to bring COVID-19 vaccines to hundreds of Madison Metropolitan School District's youngest students today and tomorrow. Yesterday, the health system announced it will be holding clinics in the coming days at three elementary schools in the city. SSM officials estimate they will be able to vaccinate approximately 380 students through these clinics. (WMTV-NBC15)
  3. After three rejected proposals, CoreSpaces, a nationwide real estate company, has been approved to build a third luxury apartment complex in downtown Madison. As students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison struggle to afford rent, there are questions as to whether this growing trend of luxury apartment complexes is a feasible plan for the growing student population.   4. The Madison City Council recently approved a plan to rent 35 hotel rooms that will provide housing for people camping in Reindahl park. (UW Badger Herald)
