Here are the top three stories today in Madison:
- Last Thursday, Feb. 10, the Madison Police Department and the community came together to discuss the department's controversial body camera pilot program. The "Share the Table" event took place in Memorial Union, where attendees engaged in hands-on activities, reviewed research on body-worn cameras, and discussed the implications of the program. The one-year pilot program, which has yet to be approved, calls for 48 body-worn cameras for officers in Madison's North District. (Daily Cardinal)
- A new boutique hotel could soon take the spot of a downtown Madison fixture. The Rubin's furniture store is moving out of its E. Wilson St. location, and North Central Property Group is eyeing up the spot for a new hotel. The historic brick building, just a short walk from the capitol, could soon include 45 total guestrooms, a rooftop patio, and retail space. (WMTV - NBC15)
- An arrest warrant has been issued for Amaree Goodall, the Madison man wanted in the fatal shooting of a teen outside of Beloit Memorial High School. 19-year-old Goodall has not been taken into custody yet; anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Beloit police at (608)-757-2244 or Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers at (608)-362-7463.
