Here are the top stories today in Madison:

1. Madison's newly remodeled Walmart Supercenter aims to make shopping easier for local residents. Walmart announced its location at 4198 Nakoosa Trail has completed a "much-anticipated" renovation project aimed at making shopping more convenient. For instance, the apparel department will have improved signage and the produce department will have a better layout that more clearly reflects customers' shopping patterns, according to store management. 2. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is now requiring all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the federal mandate. All staff members, including student employees, will be required to receive either the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the two-doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines by Jan. 4, 2022. UW-Madison employees who do not comply and do not have a valid medical or religious exemption will face sanctions that could ultimately culminate in termination. (Daily Cardinal)

4. A proposed amendment to change the Madison Bus Rapid Transit route fell short, missing approval by just one vote. If approved, the amendment could have added an estimated $5 million to the cost of building the BRT route. (ibmadison.com)
