Here are the top stories today in Madison:
- Red Caboose Child Care Center is moving! The center is partnering with Movin' Out to create an affordable child care space at 2340 Winnebago St. that will have affordable housing units in its building. Movin' Out is an organization that aims to provide affordable housing to people with disabilities and lower income folks. (The Cap Times)
- Joan Wildman was a University of Wisconsin-Madison professor, composer and experimental musician who died in 2020. From 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, WORT-FM's "Strictly Jazz Sounds" will have a show dedicated to Wildman. It will feature the pianist Jane Reynolds, a friend and student of Wildman, who will dive into the composer's best work. (Tone)
- The Madison City Council voted to put $5.75 million toward low-cost housing over the next year. The money, coming from the Affordable Housing Fund, is expected to create over 250 units. (Wisconsin State Journal)
- This week, the Madison night market is running from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday night as opposed to Thursday. The market will also include a variety of science activities as part of Science on the Square. (NBC15)
