- Police have discredited claims about a school shooting at Leopold Elementary after receiving a report Wednesday afternoon around 3 p.m. The police department says it is working with school staff to try to determine who was behind the false report, but they do not believe it was connected to the series of threats at Memorial High School earlier this week. Anyone with information is asked to call (608) 255-2345. (Channel3000.com - WISC-TV3)
- A new construction project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is threatening to displace the Zoe Bayliss Cooperative building, where students have been living since 1955. The cooperative housing unit at the corner of Johnson Street and Park Street is slated to be demolished to make way for Levy Hall, the new humanities building, next year. The co-op is working with University Housing to find new living arrangements for the students housed in the old building. (WKOW)
- Bakeries across Madison are teaming up to donate relief funds to people in Ukraine. Both Bayk and Bloom Bake Shop are contributing a portion of their sales of babka, a traditional Jewish pastry popular throughout Eastern Europe, to groups assisting refugees amidst the ongoing crisis. For an authentic taste of Ukrainian cuisine, Madison residents can also check out Adamah Neighborhood Table, Essen Haus, and Heritage Tavern. (Isthmus)
