  1. Dane County set a new single-day COVID-19 case record Monday, according to data from Public Health Madison and Dane County. According to the new report, 2,127 new cases were recorded on Jan. 10, surpassing the previous record of 1,988 cases that was set just three days earlier on Jan. 7. Two more people died of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the county's total to 398. (Channel3000.com - WISC-TV3)
  2. The Madison Board of Education approved a plan on Monday to temporarily reinstate COVID-19-specific leave for benefits-eligible employees within the Madison Metropolitan School District. The plan gives employees five days of COVID-19 sick leave and two mental health days. None of those days would accrue, rollover, or be paid out if an employee leaves the district.   3. The City of Madison recognized the work of local crossing guards for helping to keep streets safe despite tough winter conditions. Officials said the best way to thank crossing guards is by slowing down near intersections and school zones. They also advised drivers to stop at least 10 feet behind where children and crossing guards are walking when a guard raises their stop sign. (97 Seven Country WGLR)
