Here are the top 3 stories today in Madison:
- Members of Madison VFW Post 1318 have unearthed a time capsule that is more than 50 years old. The VFW members began searching for the capsule, which was created in 1969, upon learning that their post would be moving to a new location. The items found inside will be moved to the post's new location on Ski Lane, where they will be featured on display. (WKOW)
- The University of Wisconsin-Madison has received funding to conduct six new research projects that will benefit the Great Lakes. The funding comes from Wisconsin Sea Grant and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Nearly 75 researchers, staff members, and students will be involved in the research projects. - More than 100,000 diapers are being donated to the Village Diaper Bank, a Madison-based nonprofit that distributes free diapers to families in need. The diapers are excess donations that were given to Fort McCoy to support the arrival of Afghan refugees last year. Last year, the Village Diaper Bank donated over half of a million diapers to more than 7,000 children. (WKOW)
