Here are the top stories today in Madison:

1. Gov. Tony Evers and other state leaders announced a $45 million plan to fund support for victim services and violence prevention efforts. About $25 million will go toward research and evaluating community-based solutions to addressing violence. The remainder of the funds will be used by the Department of Justice to administer grants to relevant organizations throughout the state.
2. Manna Cafe and Bakery closed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, those who miss the cafe and its treats can buy the memoir/cookbook titled, "Manna Cafe and Bakery Cookbook: A Memoir of Two Businesses, A Community, and The Food That Connected Them." The book includes recipes that have been translated to a home kitchen setting. The book launch is Oct. 21 at the Goodman Community Center. (Isthmus)
