Here are the top stories today in Madison:
- Gov. Tony Evers and other state leaders announced a $45 million plan to fund support for victim services and violence prevention efforts. About $25 million will go toward research and evaluating community-based solutions to addressing violence. The remainder of the funds will be used by the Department of Justice to administer grants to relevant organizations throughout the state.
- Manna Cafe and Bakery closed last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, those who miss the cafe and its treats can buy the memoir/cookbook titled, "Manna Cafe and Bakery Cookbook: A Memoir of Two Businesses, A Community, and The Food That Connected Them." The book includes recipes that have been translated to a home kitchen setting. The book launch is Oct. 21 at the Goodman Community Center. (Isthmus)
