“One of the interesting things of the greater Washington County area or West Bend community is that people do have a sense of community — and we’re part of that community,” Founder and CEO Bruce Steinhardt said. “We want to give back and support what goes on.”

Staff at OTech are involved in the community in a variety of ways. Over the past years, they have given time, talent and financial support to the local Rotary Club, Boys and Girls Club, West Bend School Foundation, Museum of Wisconsin Art and currently Katie Evans, VP of Operations at OTech, is the president of the Volunteer Center of Washington County.

Steinhardt has a background in the healthcare industry, with a healthcare executive MBA and experience as a medical practice administrator. The idea for OTech’s check-in systems came to him while checking in at the airport.

“At the time, I was at a pediatric practice as an administrator, and checked myself into the airport and said, ‘There has to be a way to do something similar to this at the physician’s office,’” Steinhardt said. He collaborated with co-founder and CIO Joe Menter, who holds many software patents and is a tech-savvy programmer, in order to bring the idea to life.

“We’ve seen self-service become more and more commonplace over the last 10 years,” Steinhardt said. “This kind of self-service is really a wave of the future. We’re not going backwards, this technology isn’t going away. Consider the example of ATMs, which are already 40 years old — how often do you really even walk into a bank nowadays? Very, very rarely.”

OTech Group, LLC, stays on top of the industry by constantly evaluating its software and hardware, launching new products and making upgrades to offer the best service possible to the healthcare industry.
