Garden Setting for Kid's Day

Kid-Friendly Garden Activities at Shady Lane Greenhouses

Children will be introduced to the wonderful world of their backyard during Kid’s Day, Saturday, May 4, from 10am to 4pm, at Shady Lane Greenhouses. This Menomonee Falls garden center is known for its family-oriented events, and May 4th will be no different.

Mother Nature will read stories from 11am-2pm. Furry friends from the Golden Retriever Rescue organization will be on hand. Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens will provide an informative session for children, and, for a nominal donation, offer a kid’s craft. Wild Birds Unlimited has a fun activity planned. For a $10 fee, children can plant and decorate a beautiful container of colorful annuals for their mother. Face painting will be available and Mr. Karl’s Coloring Corner will be set up for young artists.

If all that isn’t enough, Dulcimers and Stuff will be playing from 1-3pm and Grace Lutheran Youth Group will be grilling hot dogs and offering treats and beverages. Of course, Shady Lane’s permanent g-scale model train, the Midwest’s largest, will be on display, as well, in the House of Blooms.
