WHAT:  Senator Alberta Darling will visit the Menomonee Falls KinderCare® to share a book with the Pre-kindergarten class during story time to celebrate the national Week of the Young Child.

 WHY:   The Week of the Young Child is an annual National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)-sponsored celebration that focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Early childhood education and care providers around the country will take part in this year’s celebration, “Early Years Are Learning Years,” during the week of April 22-28.

During her visit, Sen. Darling will tour the nationally accredited center and see firsthand what a high-quality early childhood education and care center looks like. She will also share a book with the Pre-kindergarten children during the morning story time.

The Menomonee Falls KinderCare is a five-star rated center with the state’s YoungStar program. YoungStar is a childcare rating program run by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families. The program rates child care providers on a scale of one to five stars based on education, learning environment, business practices and the health and well-being of children.
