UPDATED: 5 Taken to Hospital and 380 Evacuated After Chemical Spill at Bradley Corp.

Five people were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure Tuesday afternoon after a chemical spill at the Bradley Corp.

The incident happened at about 2:40 p.m. when a peroxide spill occurred in an enclosed area of the warehouse, according to Anna Ruzinski, Menomonee Falls police chief, at a news conference at the scene around 4:45 p.m.

None of the employees was seriously injured. All were released soon afterward,  Ruzinski said. She said that the entire building was evacuated. More than 380 workers were evacuated, according to Ruzinski.

"We should be open for business tomorrow morning," said Jon Dommisse, communications director for Bradley Corp.

About five fire trucks are on the scene at W142N9101 Fountain Blvd. Police were blocking the road leading to the company. Television news trucks lined Fountain Boulevard, and a news helicopter circled overhead. However, the scene inside the police line looked calm and orderly. Around 4:30 p.m., a line of workers left the building.

Ruzinski said the spill was contained because it occurred in a cement room inside the middle of the plant. The cause of the spill is still under investigation. By 5 p.m., fire and police authorities had cleared two-thirds of the building. They expected to have the rest of it cleared within the hour, Ruzinski said. At that time, clean up could start.
