Showalter to coach Menomonee Falls Basketball

MENOMONEE FALLS — Steve Showalter will be the new coach for boys basketball next year at Menomonee Falls High School and will also take on a role as an educational assistant. He accepted a tentative offer late Tuesday afternoon, according to the district.

“We are beyond excited for Steve to join us both on and off the court at Menomonee Falls,” said Director of Athletics & Activities Ryan Anderson in a news release. “Not only will Steve help us build a strong basketball program, he’ll also be building relationships with our students during lunch and study hall and mentoring our at-risk students as well.”

Showalter has held previous coaching positions at Germantown, Lindenwood University and most recently Catholic Memorial. During his time at Germantown, he led the basketball team to three state titles.

“I want to thank Catholic Memorial for giving me an opportunity to come back to Wisconsin,” Showalter said. “I’d also like to thank CMH’s administrative team for their dedication to athletics and students. I absolutely believe they are bound for success.”

Showalter’s son Zak will be a senior UW-Madison and plays for the Badger’s basketball team, one of many reasons for returning to the state.

The MFHS basketball team finished their season last year with a 14-9 season losing to Kettle Moraine in the Division 1 regional opener. Coach Ben Farley resigned last month.
