3 Injured In 2 Shootings Following NBA Finals Game In Milwaukee

Three people were injured after gunshots rang out during celebrations in downtown Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Three people are injured after two shootings in downtown Milwaukee early Wednesday morning.

A 19-year-old woman was shot near N. Water Street and E. Juneau Avenue around 12:40 a.m., the Milwaukee Police Department said in a statement. A 22-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were shot around the same time, police said. All three victims had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man and a 25-year-old man in connection to the shootings, police said. The men will face criminal charges from Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the future, it added.

Someone pushed down a metal gate which knocked an officer to the ground on the 400 block of Highland Avenue at around 8 p.m., police said. Several fans rushed into the breach and trampled the officer, it added. The police officer had non-life threatening injuries.

A 41-year-old man was arrested after the trampling incident.

Over 100,000 people were in or around the Deer District Tuesday night, police said.

The shootings followed a celebration Tuesday night after the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Finals with a 105-98 victory with the Phoenix Suns.
