3 Wisconsin Universities Ranked Among Best In World
U.S. News & World Report ranked the best universities in the world. See which Wisconsin schools made the list.

Wisconsin universities are represented as U.S. News & World Report released a new set of rankings, designating the best global universities. The United States leads the way with some of the best higher education institutions in the world, claiming the top four spots on the list.
Among the universities ranked as the best global universities by U.S. News, three schools from Wisconsin made the list.
The University of Wisconsin—Madison was the state's highest-ranking university, which came in 31st in the U.S. News and World Report global rankings. Two Milwaukee-area Schools: Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin, also made the honorable list.

According to the report, the school that claims Bucky Badger as its official mascot had numerous fields of study garner top-20 honors. UW-Madison was ranked 17th for its global research reputation, and 28th worldwide for its number of publications that are among the 10 percent of all publications cited. According to the report, UW-Madison's top fields of study included Environment/Ecology (19th), Agricultural Sciences (19th), Mathematics (17th), Plant and Animal Science (17th) and Microbiology (10th).

The rankings evaluated 1,250 universities on the list across 74 countries and 221 American universities made the cut. To come up with the rankings, U.S. News first created a pool of universities using various sources, including a global reputation survey. The rankings were then calculated using 13 indicators and weights that U.S. News chose to measure global research performance. (You can see the full methodology here.)
