39-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed After Driver Ran Red Light: Milwaukee PD

The pedestrian, a Milwaukee woman, was standing on the sidewalk when she was hit following a high-speed collision, according to police.

MILWAUKEE, WI — A pedestrian was fatally struck after a driver blew a red light Tuesday in Milwaukee, according to police.

The incident occurred about 6 a.m. at the intersection of North 35th Street and West Lisbon Avenue, police said. A video of the incident shared on Facebook by WISN 12 showed a dark SUV colliding with a white sedan, the impact of which sent the sedan onto the sidewalk, where the pedestrian was hit.

The victim, a 39-year-old Milwaukee woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The driver who ran the red light, a 27-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested, and charges were under review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, police said. The other driver, a 30-year-old Wauwatosa woman, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.
