MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee woman is charged with a felony after a 6-year-old shot a 3-year-old, both of whom were under her care at the time, according to reports.

Shelly R. Baublit, 42, faces one count of neglecting a child with a consequence of great bodily harm, court records said.

Baublit was caring for the children Saturday but had left them alone at a residence in the 2300 block of North 52nd Street when the shooting occurred, according to CBS 58. She did not call 911 when she discovered what had happened but instead contacted the 3-year-old’s mother, who took the child to the hospital, CBS 58 reported, adding that prior to the shooting, Baublit had left the gun in her purse in a bedroom.
