MILWAUKEE, WI — A tornado watch has been issued for much of southern and southeast Wisconsin, including Milwaukee County, as dangerous storms capable of producing tornadoes and very large hail move into the region.

Counties included in the tornado watch are:

Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Washington, Dodge, Jefferson, Walworth, Rock, Dane, Columbia, Sauk, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Iowa, Lafayette, Grant, Richland, Crawford, Vernon, Monroe, Juneau, Adams, Calumet, Manitowoc, Winnebago and Waushara.

Storms are expected to develop and intensify through the evening hours, with the greatest threat between about 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Early storms may carry the highest risk for tornadoes and very large hail. As storms organize into clusters or a line, damaging winds and brief spin-up tornadoes could become the primary threats.

Residents in the watch area are urged to stay alert, have multiple ways to receive warnings and be ready to take shelter immediately if warnings are issued.

Additional severe storms are possible again on Wednesday, with more chances later this week.
