MILWAUKEE, WI — Southern Wisconsin could see more strong to severe thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday morning after overnight storms moved through the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters said multiple chances for rain and storms will continue through Tuesday morning, and each round of weather could affect how the next round develops.
The National Weather Service said there is still uncertainty about storm timing and hazards for Monday night into Tuesday, but strong to severe storms are possible if conditions come together.
The main question is whether skies are clear enough and the atmosphere becomes unstable enough for stronger storms to develop on Monday evening.
If that happens, southern Wisconsin could see more storms Monday evening and overnight into Tuesday. The main hazards would include a few brief tornadoes, strong winds and hail, according to the weather service.
If cloud cover and rain linger longer Monday morning, storms may be weaker and more scattered overnight into Tuesday morning. In that scenario, the main hazards would be small hail and strong winds.
The Milwaukee area could see showers and thunderstorms Monday, mainly before 4 p.m. The high temperature is expected to reach about 79 degrees, with south winds of 10 to 15 mph.
Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible Monday night, when showers become likely after 1 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, according to the weather service.
Tuesday will stay warm and unsettled, with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m. The high will be near 81 degrees.
It will also be breezy Tuesday, with southwest winds of 15 to 20 mph shifting west in the afternoon. Gusts could reach 30 mph.
Cooler air will move in by Tuesday night, when the low is expected to fall to around 44 degrees. Wednesday and Thursday will be much cooler, with highs near 57 degrees both days.
