ST. FRANCIS, WI — Giannis Antetokounmpo made a surprise visit to one of Wisconsin’s most historic Catholic institutions.

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar stopped by Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, where he toured the campus and saw the major restoration work underway.

Very Rev. Luke Strand, rector of Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, gave Antetokounmpo the tour.

"Giannis Antetokounmpo visited the Salesianum today and was thrilled to see the restoration taking place on our historic campus!" the seminary wrote.

Catholic Herald previously reported that the broader project included restoration and expansion work on historic buildings and infrastructure.

The post quickly drew amused and delighted reactions from Catholics and Bucks fans, with commenters joking about whether the seminary had found its newest recruit.

Antetokounmpo has spoken publicly about his Christian faith and Greek Orthodox background.

Saint Francis de Sales Seminary is located along Lake Michigan in St. Francis, just south of Milwaukee. The seminary has operated at one location longer than any other Catholic seminary in the United States.

Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP and 2021 NBA Finals MVP, has spent his entire NBA career with the Bucks.
