MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who narrowly defeated democratic socialist state Rep. Francesca Hong in Tuesday's Wisconsin Democratic primary for governor, addressed the "cancel Thanksgiving" controversy that dogged his rival's campaign during a CNN interview with Kaitlan Collins.

Crowley smiled and said he likes Thanksgiving, adding that while he and Hong "don't always agree on everything," Democrats need to unite against "MAGA extremism" heading into November.

Hong spent the campaign's final weeks fielding questions about a since-deleted 2020 social media post in which she called to "cancel Thanksgiving," among other past comments, before losing to Crowley by roughly 3,000 votes.

Crowley will face Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany in the general election.
