WISCONSIN — Six Wisconsin ZIP codes rank among the nation's hottest real estate markets, according to Realtor.com's 2026 Hottest ZIP Codes report, which measures buyer demand and how fast homes sell nationwide.
New Berlin's 53151 ZIP code was the state's highest finisher, coming in at No. 9 out of the top 50 nationally with a median listing price of $445,000.
Homes there attracted nearly four and a half times the national average in views per listing and sold in a median of 29 days.
Realtor.com found the ZIP code split its buyer interest between two metros, drawing about half its views from Milwaukee and roughly a quarter from Chicago.
Kenosha (53140) ranked No. 13, with a median listing price of $267,000 and homes spending a median of 28 days on the market.
Appleton (54911) followed at No. 21, with a $280,000 median price and 30 days on the market on average.
Racine (53405) placed No. 41 with a $241,000 median listing price, while Green Bay (54303) ranked No. 43 at a $261,000 median. Wausau (54401) rounded out the state's entries at No. 45, with the highest demand multiple among Wisconsin's ZIP codes: homes there drew nearly five times the national average in views per property, though they also spent the longest on the market at a median of 38 days.
New Berlin was one of just three ZIP codes appearing on the national list for the first time this year, a sign Realtor.com says shows buyer demand spreading into smaller markets within the same Midwest corridor.
Realtor.com's rankings combine two measures: unique viewers per listing compared with the national average, and the number of days a typical listing stays on the market. The site's senior economist, Hannah Jones, said this year's buyers are chasing space, character and a manageable commute rather than the lowest price tag alone.
For the fourth straight year, the hottest markets nationally clustered in the Northeast and Midwest, with Peabody, Massachusetts, topping the overall list. Nationally, inventory in the hottest ZIP codes ran about 60 percent below pre-pandemic levels, more than five times the shortfall seen across the broader market.
