Confidence In Historic Super El Niño Grows: What To Know In WI (patch.com) — Milwaukee residents are being warned that a potentially historic El Niño could mean a milder, less snowy winter across Wisconsin, including the Milwaukee area. Forecasters say there's a strong chance this El Niño will be among the most powerful on record, shifting heavier snow toward the Southwest and Rockies while keeping much of the Upper Midwest warmer and drier than usual.
2. Double fatal shooting leads to arrest on Milwaukee's northwest side (tmj4.com) — Police arrested a 28-year-old after a double fatal shooting Monday afternoon on Milwaukee's northwest side near the 4900 block of North 31st Street. Two victims, including a 33-year-old, died at the scene, and investigators are still determining what led up to the violence as charges head to the Milwaukee County District Attorney.
3. Milwaukee Recreation's Rec 'N Roll Summer Bash brings free family fun to city playfields (tmj4.com) — Free Rec 'N Roll Summer Bash pop-up events are bringing carts, skates, games, and other activities to different Milwaukee playfields from 1–4 p.m. each day through Friday. The program aims to get families outside, connect neighbors, and help kids gear up for the coming school year right in their own neighborhoods.
4. Milwaukee fire near 18th and Mineral, house uninhabitable (fox6now.com) — A Monday evening fire left a multifamily home near 18th and Mineral in Milwaukee uninhabitable, with heavy damage to the attic and roof but no reported injuries. Milwaukee firefighters called a second alarm to battle the blaze, and the American Red Cross is now helping displaced tenants with temporary housing while investigators work to determine the cause.
5. Milwaukee's beloved Calatrava turns 25 (jsonline.com) — Milwaukee's iconic Calatrava addition at the Art Museum is turning 25, with a yearlong celebration kicking off Aug. 27 and a new "Built to Inspire" installation in Windhover Hall. The newsletter also updates you on Oracle dropping its lawsuit over Wisconsin's new data-center energy rules, which aim to shield residents from higher electric bills.
