Video: WI Parent Cited After Tripping 9-Year-Old Player During Youth Football Game

MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — Police in Mount Pleasant have cited a Milwaukee man for disorderly conduct, accusing him of stepping onto a field and tripping a 9-year-old football player mid-game over the weekend, according to WFRV.

The confrontation unfolded during a Brew City League matchup between the Case Eagles and the Milwaukee Colts at Case High School.

Investigators say a parent watching from the visiting side grew frustrated over how a play was going, then left the sideline and put out his leg to bring down a young player on the opposing team.

Someone in the stands recorded the whole thing on their phone, according to WTMJ.

The clip, which shows the boy sprinting toward the end zone before being knocked down, quickly spread across social media.

Officers tracked the man down after he had already left the game, pulling him over in a traffic stop, FOX6 Milwaukee reported. He acknowledged what he'd done and accepted a citation on the spot, police told FOX6.

Investigators say they followed up with the boy's family and were told he came away unhurt.

Case Eagles coach Channing Schultz said the player popped back up and stayed in the game.

League officials weren't done there: a Brew City League spokesperson told WISN 12 News the man has since been banned from attending games, and the Milwaukee Colts organization was hit with a fine.
