Today's riddle: Why did the fish blush ? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. This Stunning Wisconsin Lakeside City Will Throw A Massive Irish Festival Next Month (takingthekids.com) — Milwaukee's lakefront will again host Irish Fest from August 13–16, 2026, turning the park at 200 N. Harbor Dr. into a massive celebration of Irish music, dance, culture, and food. With 17 stages, hundreds of acts, kids' areas, sports demos, genealogy help, and marketplace vendors, organizers offer plenty of tips on what to see, when to go, and how to beat the crowds.
2. Milwaukee violence prevention office using new 'cluster' research to prevent shootings (cbs58.com) — Milwaukee officials are targeting 26 high-risk "cluster" zones where 90% of this year's shootings have occurred, using new research to focus outreach and resources. While homicides and non-fatal shootings are down from recent years, the city's Department of Community Wellness and Safety says teams are concentrating efforts in these neighborhoods as summer ends to better match data with residents' on-the-ground experiences.
3. Fire investigators probe couch blaze in empty Milwaukee duplex (wisn.com) — Fire crews are investigating a Sunday afternoon couch fire in the lower unit of an unoccupied duplex near 19th and Vienna in Milwaukee. No one was injured, and the upstairs family returned home, but officials are looking into whether two teens seen running from the building may be connected to how the blaze started.
4. Labor Day travel costs hit Milwaukee drivers at the pump (tmj4.com) — Milwaukee drivers are feeling the pinch at the pump this Labor Day, with local gas averaging about $3.72 a gallon and national prices projected to hit a record holiday high. Residents describe scaling back trips, opting instead for barbecues and time at home, while experts say some price relief may come later in September as demand drops and cheaper fuel blends return.
